A man in his 50s died from a fatal injury caused by a crossbow bolt, a post mortem has concluded.

It follows an incident on Tuesday, December 2, at an address in Lordscroft Lane, Haverhill.

A woman was arrested in connection with the death but has subsequently been released on bail, as police enquiries into the incident continue.

Police were called by the ambulance service to reports a man had suffered serious injuries.

The victim was initially treated by paramedics however he died a short time later.

A Home Office post-mortem examination took place yesterday, Thursday, December 4, and concluded that the cause of death was a fatal injury caused by a crossbow bolt.

A 61-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Yesterday morning (Wednesday, December 3), detectives made an application for a warrant of further detention at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court and were granted additional time to question the suspect.

The woman has now been released on police bail until Monday, March 2, pending further enquiries.

A police scene remains in place at the premises on Lordscroft Lane while the investigation continues.
